I led the end-to-end research initiative to develop RunDot’s first behavior-driven user personas. As the sole UX Researcher, I designed and executed a mixed-methods study—partnering closely with product, design, and marketing teams to ensure insights were actionable and strategically embedded across the organization.

As the sole UX Researcher, I designed and executed a mixed-methods study—partnering closely with product, design, and marketing teams to ensure insights were actionable and strategically embedded across the organization.
Through in-depth interviews and a survey of over 250 athletes, I uncovered key motivations, friction points, and behavioral patterns that shaped how users interacted with the platform. These insights were synthesized into three core personas that now serve as a foundation for onboarding, checkout flows, product roadmapping, and marketing communications.

We hosted a collaborative working session with stakeholders across product, design, coaching, and marketing to better understand friction points within the RunDot platform. The goal was to uncover gaps in user understanding and internal misalignment around who we were building for—and why.

Lack of defined user types made it hard to personalize experiences, guide decisions, or confidently prioritize features. Internally, teams defaulted to assumptions, which created inconsistent messaging and design.

To develop personas grounded in reality, I ran qualitative interviews with new, active, and churned users—alongside data reviews from surveys, support logs, and behavior patterns. These helped reveal distinct mental models, motivations, and friction points.

Based on surveys, interviews, and synthesis, we identified four clear user types and a set of Jobs-to-Be-Done that helped structure RunDot’s redesign for version 2.0. Each user type surfaced patterns of friction around onboarding, training structure, progress tracking, and expectations of personalization—transforming raw feedback into a clear roadmap.
